Information (WIP)
Feb. 20th, 2022 10:11 pmName: Raiko Takehara
Codename: Godhand
Race: Human (Gene-Synth)
Age: 20s
Hair: White with a red streak
Eye Color: Yellow
Appearance:
Link*
Occupation: Obsidian Saber member.
Background: Raiko grew up in an orphanage. It wasn’t the best of places, but he had everything he needed to survive there. He had friends and their caretakers were generally nice. But eventually, the place was secretly bought and taken over by a corporation called Vertex Technologies. This was one so they would have ‘test subjects’ for their projects.
Vertex Technologies didn’t think anyone would care if some children went missing from the place. Even if they did, the corporation had large amounts of money they could throw their way. If that failed, they had..other means of dealing with them.
It took a while for Raiko to be selected and taken to one of their facilities. It was there that he found out they were trying to perfect a new process of creating Gene-Synths. It was something meant to create powerful versions of them, but trial and error was expected.
The pain of the process was excruciating, but Raiko got through it. He was one of the few people to survive it. The power he came to wield because of it met Vertex Technologies expectations. He could generate and manipulate energy within himself. Not only that, but he seemed to have the ability to learn things after seeing them done once.
It is that ability that led to his escape. He witnessed the guards of the facility fighting with some of the rowdier and stronger test subjects, through that he learned how to fight. And with those skills that he picked up, he managed to escape.
He spent the next several years in hiding for fear that Vertex would find and reclaim him. He was instead discovered by Obsidian Saber, a group contracted by the government to deal with hostile Gene-Synths. They encountered him fighting another Gene-Synth that had gone wild and attacked him. His combat skills were apparent and after the fight was over, the squad leader chatted with him. He bought him something to eat before eventually suggesting that he could join Obsidian Saber.
Raiko promptly turned him down. For the next few months, the OS squad leader made the offer again and again. Raiko went along with him whenever he popped up because he knew a free meal was involved. Eventually, he noticed a few people from Vertex Technologies in the area. They’d never shown any interest in coming there and Raiko decided that if he worked for OS, he might gain some level of protection, so the next time the offer was made, he joined.
Personality: Raiko is a strong-willed sort of person. If there is something he wants to do or something he believes he can do and someone says he can’t, he’d happily attempt it to prove them wrong. He can also be a bit rebellious in that way as well, but that could also come from not being given too many of his own choices growing up.
He was given up for adoption, taken and experimented on and would probably still be locked away if he didn’t make the choice to escape. He doesn’t like restraints, even if they are for his own good. He’s also strongly aversed to needles. This is do to what happened to him when he was in the Vertex facility, though no one would really know this because he has never talked about it.
He doesn’t like to see people oppressed or bullied, especially young children or those that can’t defend themselves. He’s loyal to people he considers to be his friends and will go to extreme lengths to protect them and make sure they are safe.
He knows that no one would believe him even if he did. Even if someone were to believe him, there wouldn’t be anything that could be done about it. He still had bad dreams about the treatment he endured from them. He keeps much of his past to himself as well because he doesn’t really wanted to be pitied.
He can be pretty sarcastic when he wants to be with a bit of a dry sense of humor. He’s a pretty terrible cook, despite being able to prepare food that looks to be restaurant quality. He hasn’t learned to adjust things to taste properly yet, but it is something he’s working on.
Because of his abilities, he’s ventured deep into the study of martial arts. He’s started studying different teachings of it and he watches any type of media that he can get his hands on to teach him new things.
He isn’t incredibly outing, but he isn’t against going out to places if a friend invites him along.
Powers & Abilities: When Raiko was turned into a Gene-Synth, he gained several different abilities that all seem to stem from the same source. The base ability he gained is being able to generate internal energy within himself. When that triggered, his senses became sharper and his body enhanced.
It gives him the ability of Photographic Reflexes. He can perfectly mimic actions that he’s seen. If he sees someone play a piano, then he can play it as well. If he sees someone juggle, then he can juggle as well. It isn’t instantaneous and it requires him to attempt the feat once or twice to somewhat calibrate himself to the new skills.
He can also control and manipulate the internal energy as well. He can further enhance his body and senses even further beyond a normal human level. He can also convert the internal energy into fire or lightning as well as being able to throw and project it in its natural form. This gives him the ability of ranged attacks as well adding extra power to his physical striking ability.
What is a Gene-Synth?
A Gene-Synth is a person that has been genetically altered through a scientific process to gain special abilities. Many different abilities have been seen occurring from this process. Flight, control of objects with ones mind, telepathy, element conjuration, transmutation or shapeshifting of ones own body.
There are different grades given depending on how powerful someone’s ability is. In order from lowest to highest, it is D-Class, C-Class, B-Class, A-Class, Z-Class. Only one Z-Class Gene- Synth has ever been observed and their powers have never been disclosed.
Powers of Gene-Synths can evolve over time, so just because someone is D-Class doesn’t mean they can’t become A-Class. Natural born Gene-Synths can occur from a parent or parents that have undergone the procedure. The chances of inheriting whatever ability their parent had is great, but they could also develop one completely unrelated as well.
